  1. I needed a dry pack for a hike that included walking on dry land as well as wading (and occasionally swimming) on a river. I’m only 5’3″ so many dry packs are too long for me to wear comfortably. This one is practically the perfect size.

It’s also insanely lightweight. Typical PVC dry packs (which cannot be sold to customers in California, and maybe other states too) are much heavier and tend to weaken where the material turns on a sharp corner.

I’m not the most confident swimmer, but properly sealed, this pack had the bonus attribute of turning into a personal flotation device on the river. Many times I just leaned back and did a lazy backstroke – what a way to travel!

Downsides? Just a couple so far. The lightweight material also means you have to watch carefully where you place it. I fear that the slightest scrape might ruin it. And I wish it had a proper waist belt.

My hiking buddies, even the grizzled veterans, were mighty impressed. Some are considering making this their next purchase, and one has already bought one based upon my experiences thus far.
