  1. Get ready physically as well as mentally on your journey! Be familiar with your body’s skills and abilities, and it physical limitations.
  2. Select the right partner for a big trip! A person within your age, with similar physical skills, and an individual you can relies on.
  3. Inform someone where you are going plus tell them also when you will be arriving. Also provide all your contact information to that individual in-case they don’t know you that much. So in case of any emergency, they know where you are and they know who to call of your whereabouts.
  4. Be ready for the worst possible situation you can expect within the vicinity of your area of travel! Always bring spare clothes for any change of weather like rain jacket, windbreaker, extra socks, or small accessories for colder conditions.
  5. Bring also important essential items that are really necessary! You can cover greater distances and travel more quickly with a lightweight backpack!
  6. As much as possible, avoid huffing and puffing. If you are able to talk comfortably while walking, then you’re hiking at a perfect pace. Don’t forget to give yourself a break. A ten minute break at least once in an hour is ideal. Use this moment to enjoy your surroundings.
  7. Make sure the boots your wearing fit properly and are broken in! Prepare and bring a blister treatment kit in case you accidentally got one.
  8. For travel outdoors, it’s better to wear synthetic clothes instead of cotton. When traveling, bring one set of clothes and keep the dry ones in the base camp.
  9. Eat and drink methodically! Drink often and eat regularly. So, better eat before you get hungry and drink before you become thirsty.
  10. Then lastly, wrap approximately five feet of duct tape around a trekking pole or in a pencil body to keep it handy and really useful for any repairs, in case of emergencies and preventing blisters that is about to occur.
